Swift iOS development company

A Swift iOS development company builds native apps for iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices using Swift, Apple's programming language, and frameworks such as SwiftUI. Zoti builds and maintains native iOS apps for businesses and founders with a full team and a dedicated project manager, starting at $499/month.

What Swift and native iOS development mean

Swift is the programming language Apple introduced in 2014 to replace Objective-C for building apps on its platforms. Native iOS development means writing the app in Swift with Apple's own frameworks: SwiftUI for newer interfaces, UIKit for older or more custom ones, and system frameworks for things like the camera, location, health data, payments and widgets.

Apple also provides the whole toolchain: Xcode for writing and testing code, simulators for every iPhone and iPad size, TestFlight for sending test builds to real people, and App Store Connect for releases. A native project fits that toolchain without extra layers in between, which makes debugging and Apple's review process more predictable.

Because native apps are built with Apple's own tools, they get new iOS features first, follow Apple's design conventions closely and usually have the best performance and battery use. The trade-off is that a Swift app runs only on Apple devices. If you also need Android, that is a second app, typically in Kotlin, or a cross-platform framework instead.

Native iOS vs cross-platform: an honest comparison

Most business apps do not need to be native. Some do. Here is how we think about it:

  • Choose native Swift when the app depends on Apple-specific features: HealthKit, Apple Watch, widgets, Live Activities, advanced camera or AR, CarPlay or on-device processing.
  • Choose native Swift when your customers are mostly on iPhone and the experience has to feel exactly like iOS.
  • Choose native when performance is the product: real-time audio or video, heavy graphics, large offline datasets.
  • Choose React Native or Flutter when you need iOS and Android at launch on one budget and the app is mostly forms, lists, maps and payments.
  • Choose a web app when people will mostly use it at a desk or only occasionally, and an app store listing adds little.

What we build with Swift

  • Consumer iPhone apps with subscriptions or in-app purchases, accounts and push notifications.
  • Health and fitness apps that read and write Apple Health data, with care taken over privacy and consent.
  • iPad apps for staff: inspections, sales presentations, check-in kiosks and point of sale.
  • Apple Watch companions and home screen widgets for an existing app.
  • Native iOS versions of an existing web platform, sharing its backend and logins.
  • Updates to older Objective-C or Swift apps that no longer build or pass App Store review.
  • Sign in with Apple, Apple Pay and push notifications wired into your existing accounts, payments and backend.

Swift iOS development company, freelancer or in-house?

A freelance iOS developer is a reasonable choice for a contained task, like adding a feature or fixing a crash. A complete app also needs designs, a backend, App Store listings, review back-and-forth and updates each time Apple ships a new iOS version. Make sure someone owns each of those.

An in-house iOS developer makes sense when the iPhone app is your product. If you also need Android, you will likely be hiring a second specialist.

A Swift iOS development company like Zoti provides design, iOS and backend developers and a project manager as one team. Zoti works on monthly plans starting at $499/month, covering design, development, hosting and ongoing changes, with a written quote before anything starts. If an Android version comes later, the same team can build it.

How a native iOS project works

  1. Map it outWe define users, screens, Apple features and backend needs, and decide together whether native is the right call.
  2. Clickable designsYou try a prototype following Apple's design guidelines before any code is written.
  3. Build in roundsEach round arrives on your iPhone through TestFlight for you to try and comment on.
  4. App Store reviewWe prepare the listing, privacy labels and screenshots and handle Apple's review process.
  5. Yearly upkeepWe test against each new iOS release and keep the app building, approved and improving.

Questions

Common questions

How much does it cost to build a native iOS app?

It depends on screens, features, backend and integrations, and rough US agency quotes for a full app often land in the tens of thousands of dollars or more. Zoti's custom projects start at $499/month on a monthly plan, with a written quote first.

Is Swift better than React Native or Flutter?

For apps that rely on Apple-specific features or top performance, yes. For typical business apps that need both iPhone and Android, a cross-platform framework is usually the more economical choice.

Should I use SwiftUI or UIKit?

New apps usually start with SwiftUI because it is faster to build with and is where Apple is investing. UIKit is still used for some complex custom screens and in older apps, and the two can be mixed.

Will you also build the Android version?

If you need one, yes. We can build a separate Kotlin app, or recommend a cross-platform rebuild if keeping two native apps in step is not worth the cost.

Can you fix an iOS app that no longer builds or was rejected by Apple?

Yes. We update outdated code and libraries, resolve the review issues Apple raised and resubmit, then keep the app current going forward.
