How this differs from an AI phone agent
An AI phone agent is the voice on the line: it answers calls itself. AI call center software is different. It sits behind a team of people who take the calls, and makes each of them faster and more consistent. It decides who should get which call, listens alongside the agent, writes up the call when it ends, and checks quality across every conversation instead of the handful a supervisor has time to review.
Many teams use both: an AI phone agent handles simple calls and after-hours, and AI call center tools support the people handling everything else.
What AI call center software can include
- Smart queues and routing: calls go to the agent with the right skill, language or account history, and callers with urgent issues move up.
- Automatic call summaries: when a call ends, a summary, the reason for the call and any follow-up tasks are written to the CRM, saving the agent the write-up.
- QA scoring on every call: each call is checked against your own scorecard, such as greeting, verification, resolution and required disclosures, and flagged calls go to a supervisor.
- Agent assist: while the call is live, the agent sees relevant help articles, account details and suggested next steps based on what the caller is saying.
- Searchable transcripts: find every call that mentioned a product defect, a competitor or a cancellation.
- Trends and reporting: top call reasons, repeat callers, handle time by topic, and the issues driving the most volume.
Example: a 15-person support team
A subscription business has a support line staffed by fifteen agents and two supervisors. Before, supervisors listened to a few calls per agent each month and agents spent minutes after each call typing notes. With custom AI tooling, every call is transcribed and summarized into the customer record automatically. Each call is scored against the team’s checklist, and supervisors start their day with a short list of calls worth reviewing rather than a random sample. A weekly report shows which issues are driving calls, so the product team can fix causes rather than symptoms.
Automated QA scoring is a filter, not a verdict. AI can misjudge tone, miss sarcasm, or mark a call down for skipping a step that did not apply. Scores are best used to decide which calls a supervisor reviews, not to discipline agents on their own. Summaries can also drop a detail now and then, so agents should be able to correct them. Call recordings and transcripts contain personal information, so we plan storage, access and retention with you and follow the recording consent rules that apply to your calls.
Custom tools vs. contact center platforms
Platforms such as Five9, Talkdesk, Genesys and Zoom Contact Center bundle phone systems with AI features, and for large centers starting fresh they can be the right choice. They tend to be priced per agent, come with long contracts, and their AI features follow the vendor’s idea of a call center.
A custom build makes sense when you already have a phone system you are happy with and want AI features on top, when your QA scorecard or routing rules are specific to your business, or when summaries and data need to land in a CRM or internal tool the platforms do not support well. You own the tooling and can change it as your team changes.
How we build it
- Review your operationWe look at your phone system, queues, scorecards, CRM and how supervisors spend their time.
- Choose the first winUsually call summaries or QA scoring, since they save time on day one without changing how calls are handled.
- Design the screensSupervisors and agents click through dashboards and assist panels before anything is built.
- Build and calibrateWe run the tools on past calls and compare AI scores with your supervisors’ scores until they line up.
- Roll out by teamOne group goes first, we tune based on their feedback, then the rest of the floor follows.

Common questions
What is AI call center software?
It is software that uses AI to support a team of human call agents, typically with smarter routing, automatic call summaries, quality scoring on every call, live agent assist and reporting on why customers call.
Will AI replace our call center agents?
That is not what these tools are for. They take the write-ups, searching and manual call reviews off people so agents spend more time helping callers. Simple calls can be handled by an AI phone agent, but complex calls still need people.
Can AI score every call for quality?
Yes. Each call can be checked against your own scorecard. Scores should guide which calls a supervisor reviews rather than replace human judgment, since AI can misread tone or context.
Does it work with our existing phone system?
Often, yes. Most modern phone systems can provide call recordings or live audio through an API. We check your system during planning and tell you what is possible before you commit.
How much does custom AI call center software cost?
Custom projects at Zoti start at $499/month, covering design, development, hosting and ongoing changes. Transcription and AI usage depend on call volume. You get a written quote first.
